IMPROV 1 - Mastering the Fundamentals

Grades 3–6
Wednesdays 4–4:45pm
1/15–3/5
$170
The core of improv is spontaneity and collaboration, where performers rely on quick thinking, active listening, and the principle of “Yes, And…” — agreeing with and building on what others offer in the scene. This creates a dynamic and unpredictable performance. Key elements include embracing mistakes as opportunities for creativity, developing characters and relationships on the fly, and focusing on group collaboration rather than individual performance. Ultimately, improv is about having fun, staying present in the moment, and creating an engaging experience for both performers and audiences.
Instructor: Emily Menell

IMPROV 2 - Intermediate

Grades 4–7 (or permission by instructor)
Wednesdays 5–6:15pm
1/15–3/5
$265
Intermediate improv is an art form that requires a deep understanding of the fundamental principles while expanding into more sophisticated techniques. It involves a heightened awareness of character, narrative, emotional depth, and ensemble dynamics. Intermediate improvisers create rich, layered performances through heightened physicality, emotional truth, and intricate storytelling, all while maintaining a sense of spontaneity and collaboration. They master the art of making quick decisions while embracing complexity, allowing them to elevate improv from a simple comedic exercise to a powerful, engaging performance.
