About the Show

Join us for the award-winning musical, HONK! This heartwarming celebration of being different will delight with sparkling wit and a memorable score. The universal story of acceptance has plenty of heart and fun for all ages.

MainStage Auditions and Registration

Everyone who auditions will be cast. By registering, you agree to attend ALL rehearsals, work days and performances. Your conflicts with any of these—including late arrival and leaving early—disrrupts everyone. It may result in casting changes. No reheasals may be missed after February 3, 2023. Understand these requirements before committing to the show.

FAMILY PARTICIPATION
There are three requirements for family volunteer work—All three must be fullfilled:

  1. PRE-SHOW VOLUNTEERING Jan 6-Feb 24, 2024:
    Families are required to support the production with 15 hours of volunteer work. 10 additional hours are required for each additional child.
  2. TECH WEEK Feb 25-29 2024:
    Every family needs to log in 10 hours during Tech Week.
  3. RUN-OF-SHOW:
    Every family is required to work 3 of the 5 shows—backstage or front-of-house.
    Participation in Strike is required following the final performance.

Note: In lieu of the rehearsal work requirement, we accept a limited number of production donations to offset the productions costs and to hire artists for special projects as needed. Please email  volunteer–coordinator@piedpiperplayers.org if you would like to request this buy-out of the pre-show volunteer hours requirement.

PERFORMANCES

Thursday, Feb 29 at 12:30pm
School Show. Actors called approx 11:00–3:00pm. Actors will miss some school time. No evening reherasal.
Friday, March 1 at 7pm
Actors called approx 5–10pm
Saturday, March 2 at 2pm
Saturday, March 2 at 7pm
Actors called approx noon–9pm
Sunday, March 3 at 2pm—STRIKE immediately following
Actors called approx noon–7:30pm. An adult family member must participate from 4–7:30 for Strike.

AUDITIONS
VOCAL / MONOLOGUE AUDITIONS:

You will select an audition time slot December 16–17 or a makeup time on the 20th. Audition details and links to sign up will be included in your confirmation email.

DANCE AUDITION:
You do not need to prepare anything. Please wear comfortable clothes and shoes (closed-toed sneakers or jazz shoes, if you have them). Bring your own water bottle labeled with your name.

CALLBACKS:
If needed, callbacks will be held tbd.

NEW FAMILY INFORMATION NIGHT
We’ll hold a new family information session on January 2, 2024, for actors and their families. Please come and learn about being part of a MainStage production and meet the staff.

 

REHEARSAL SCHEDULE
The first All-Cast Rehearsal will be January 6, 2024.

In general, rehearsals will be:

  • Fridays 6–9pm
  • Saturdays 10am–5pm
  • Sundays 1–6pm

Each cast member’s call times will depend on their role, but will fall within these times.

TECH WEEK
Call times estimated to be:

  • Sunday, Feb 25 from 11am–6pm
  • Monday, Feb 26 from 5–10pm
  • Tuesday, Feb 27 from 5–10-pm
  • Wednesday, Feb 28 from 5–10pm
  • Thursday, Feb 29 11am–2:30pm

Tech Week: No missing rehearsal, arriving late or leaving rehearsal early.

NITTY GRITTY DAY

NITTY GRITTY DAY  is Saturday, Feb 24. We will continue with Move In Day to move into the theater on Sunday, Feb 25. An adult from each family must attend Nitty Gritty Day and Move In Day.

REFUND POLICY
Refund requested by December 14, 2024: 100% refund less $75 administrative fee. No refunds will be given after auditions.
