YOUR FAMILY PARTICIPATION
There are notable requirements for family volunteer work. Pre-Show Volunteer Hours, Tech Week Hours and Run-of-Show Hours.

Additionally, there are three Mandatory Production Work Days:

1. Nitty Gritty Day: Saturday, October 17
2. Load-In Theater: 9am–3pm, Sunday, October 18
3. Strike: Sunday, November 1

PRE-SHOW VOLUNTEER HOURS
Through October 16, families are needed to support the production with:

• 15 hours of work for one participating child.
• 10 additional hours are required for each additional child: Two children pre-show requirement is 25 hours.
• Three children pre-show requirement is 35 hours.

NOTE: In lieu of fulfilling the Pre-Show Volunteer Hours requirement, we accept a limited number of production donation buy-outs to help offset production costs. Please email volunteer_coordinator@piedpiperplayers.org with questions or to request a buy-out of the Pre-Show Volunteer Hours requirement. Buy-out only includes Pre-Show Hours. Buy-out does not exempt one from Mandatory Work Days, Tech Week Hours or Run-of-Show Hours.

TECH WEEK HOURS October 18–22, 2026

• 10 volunteer hours are required of each family during Tech Week.

RUN-of-SHOW HOURS Oct 23–Nov 1, 2026

• Each family is required to work four of the seven shows—backstage or front-of-house.

MANDATORY PRODUCTION WORK DAYS

• Nitty Gritty Day: Saturday, Oct 17—Mandatory for all. An adult from each family must attend
• Load-in Theater: 9am–3pm, Sunday, Oct 18—Mandatory for all
• Strike: Sunday, Nov 1—Mandatory for all. Immediately following the final performance. You ALL are needed!

AUDITION WORKSHOPS: August 10 and 11
Exclusively for registered Dragon cast members; 4 Audition Workshops will be offered on Monday, August 10 and Tuesday, August 11. You may elect from either of the two evenings and two time periods: 6–7pm or 7–8pm.

You may have the opportunity to workshop your prepared audition piece and will learn from others as they perform their work.

AUDITIONS
August 14–16. Once you have completed your registration, a link to available audition time slots will be sent to you via your confirmation email.

• MONOLOGUE/VOCAL
  August 14–15. Prepare a one-minute comic monologue. Also prepare 16 measures of a fun, upbeat musical theater selection (You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown, Good Morning Baltimore, Gary Indiana, etc.). Bring photocopied sheet music, taped together and marked with the start/end for the accompanist.
• DANCE AUDITIONS
  Sunday, Aug 16. Choose either 10:00am–noon or 12:30–2:30pm
• Wear comfortable clothing and shoes—closed-toed sneakers/jazz shoes—and bring your own water bottle labeled with your name.
  
• TAP AUDITIONS
  Sunday, Aug 16. noon—12:30pm
• CALLBACKS will be August 17–19

DATES TO NOTE
Mandatory Parent Meeting: 10-11am, Saturday, August 22
First All-Cast Rehearsal: weekend of August 22
Rehearsals generally run:

• Fridays 5:30–9pm
• Saturdays 10am–5pm
• Sundays 1–6pm

Each cast member’s call times will depend on their role, but will likely fall within these times.

TECH WEEK—mandatory for all
Cast call times estimated to be:

• Sunday, Oct 18 from 1–8pm
• Monday, Oct 19 from 5–10pm
• Tuesday, Oct 20 from 5–10-pm
• Wednesday, Oct 21 from 5–10pm
• Thursday, Oct 22 from 5–10pm

CAST PARTY & RESET DAY at PPP HQ

• Reset Day: 2–5pm, Saturday, November 17
• Cast Party: 5–7pm, Saturday, November 17

Reset Day is a chance to organize post- strike, and put away sets, props, costumes, etc. It’s a good chance to keep the team going and make up any hours misssed along the way.

The Cast Party is a celebration of the cast, crew, staff, and families; a fun time together to catch our breath, catch up and enjoy the memories.
